June 1, 2010 I published the last issue (at least for a while) of Girl Talk my teen girl magazine. Since this blog was originally designed for the purpose of publishing weekly devotions for the magazine and later the magazine itself I decided to create another blog that isn’t connected to Girl Talk.

I’ll probably still publish book reviews or other items here now and again but you’ll more often find me at Trusting Him with Today. I hope you’ll stop by

What's in your heart?

11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
12 Praise be to you, O LORD; teach me your decrees.
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:11-12;105

Oh Wow $20.00! I exclaimed to myself as I pulled what I thought was a piece of paper out of my handbag. I hadn’t used that particular bag in a few months and I had put it there the last time I used it and had forgotten about it. However, I found it at just when I needed it most.

This is how the word of God is. At times we read and it seems like we’re not understanding it or getting anything from it. However, as we read and listen to the word of God we are hiding it away in our hearts without even realizing it. But like that $20.00 did to me it will come back to you when you really need it.

There may be days when you’re going through situations and a scripture you didn’t even realize that you knew just comes to mind. At that moment that scripture may contain the answer you were seeking. It may be something that causes you to pause and think a moment about a decision you were going to make or something that encourages or motivates you to make it through the day. Whatever the case may be, it can only happen if the word is already in you.

So I encourage you to hide God’s word away in your heart. Even on the days when it doesn’t seem like anything is sinking in continue to spend time in His word. I promise you’ll never regret it.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

The Lord knows exactly what we need -- and precisely when we need it.

Hiding His Word in our hearts makes it accessible, so He can remind us when we need His words. That way, He can whisper it to us, even when others are not nearby. Those private moments are treasures!

Blessings,
Linda
