Are you living your life in a hurry, spending each day on the run Do you make big decisions, without a clear vision, just hoping the God’s will is done ?

June 1, 2010 I published the last issue (at least for a while) of Girl Talk my teen girl magazine. Since this blog was originally designed for the purpose of publishing weekly devotions for the magazine and later the magazine itself I decided to create another blog that isn’t connected to Girl Talk.
I’ll probably still publish book reviews or other items here now and again but you’ll more often find me at Trusting Him with Today. I hope you’ll stop by

An blessed is he...
I'm over here today.
The life of John the Baptist has been the focus of my studies lately. In part I’ve been looking at how John ended up in prison for daring to tell Herod that he was wrong to marry his brother’s wife. While in prison John heard about the works of Christ and he sent his disciples to Jesus to ask one simple question, Are you the Christ or should we look for another… (Matt 11:2)

What's in Your Heart
“Oh Wow $20.00,” I exclaimed to myself as I pulled what I thought was a piece of paper out of my handbag. I hadn’t used that particular bag in a few months and I had put it there the last time I used it and had forgotten about it. However, I found it at just when I needed it most.

Which Road?
Have you ever read the poem The Road Less Travelled? It is about a man who went on a journey. During his journey he came upon crossroads. He decided to take the one that not many people had traveled before him. At the end of his journey looking back he said that taking the road less traveled had made all the difference in his life.
I was reading the poem recently and for some reason I thought about Abraham and Isaac.
What is the road less traveled? In my opinion, the road less traveled is the road with the tough choices. It’s one that not many people voluntarily choose to go down. It’s the one Abraham chose. Isaac was Abraham’s promised son but Isaac was what God asked of him. Stop by Laced With Grace to read the rest of this post.

How to become a champion when the fight seems fixed.
We all have giants in our lives, job related stress, overdue bills, family turmoil… and the list goes on. Looking at them in the natural we sometimes wonder how we can possibly overcome. We want to stand, to trust, to fight but it appears as if the odds are stacked against us. It seems as if the fight is fixed but not in our favor. So we stand at a crossroad, fight or give up. .. Can we overcome? How do you become a champion when the fight seemed fixed?

Impatience Will Cost You
I looked at the huge box sitting there. It contained the much awaited copier I wanted. Looking at the box a voice of reason told me to wait for help to lift it to the top of the desk. However patience has never been my virtue so, I didn’t listen. I decided, “Hey I can handle that.”
Flexing my superwoman muscles I effortlessly lifted the copier out of the box (yeah, right). By the time I had lifted it halfway to the desk I knew I had made a huge mistake.

The Obedience Test
I'm over here today.

Do you still have that godly awe and reverence for God? When His Holy Spirit is nudging you do you obey? I’ll be the first to admit, it’s not always easy to obey, especially if what I’m being asked to do is something that is out of my comfort zone. However, obedience is what God expects, period. Do stop by to read my thoughts on obedience.

Waitin' Ain't Easy
I'm over here today.

God, do you know how old I am?
And in the deep recesses of my mind I heard a chuckle. (I kinda think if He numbers the hairs on my head He’s probably noticed that thirty something birthdays has passed by) But back to my story…
When I’m talking to God I try not to be selfish. I pray for the needs of others, family, friends, country and world… But, I admit, sometimes I do have those moments when I go before God and there’s only one person on my mind. In the words of country singer Toby Keith,
I wanna talk about me

And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. ~ Matthew 8:26They're talking layoffs at work, slowdowns in the economy, flare-ups in the Middle East, turnovers at headquarters, downturns in the housing market, upswings in global warming...Imagine your life, wholly untouched by angst. What if faith, not fear, was your default reaction to threats? (text taken from Max Lucado's website)

A Mother's Example
I'm over here today.

Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. Genesis 5:24
Enoch was one character I didn’t relate to at first in my Old Testament reading. It seemed impossible for anyone to have such a close intimate walk with God, but as I thought about my mother’s life Enoch was the Old Testament character that I thought about most. He doesn’t have a whole book in the bible, just a few verses. However, the verse above could have been written about my mother. ..

The Day Before the End...
I'm over here today

The day before the end... I can't believe that another year is almost over. This year has been a walk of faith for me but God has proven Himself to me over and over again. I am excited to see what this New Year is going to bring.
When I was a little girl it was a tradition to go to service on New Year’s Eve and “bring in the New Year, in church.” As an adult the tradition is still ingrained in me. To me there is something wonderful about ending the old year as I began it and starting the New Year as I want to end it… in the house of God, in the presence of the Lord.

Giving God Your Best

If you were ever going to make a promise to me about anything and my siblings were near, they’d probably whisper to you, “Don’t make Bernie a promise unless you’re pretty sure you’re gonna keep it because she’ll hold you to it.” And unless there’s a VERY good reason I expect promises made to me to be kept even those made by children… Stop by Laced With Grace to continue reading.
